The airballoon and the airship

The crash of the LZ129 Hindengurg,
the largest aircraft ever built.
Archimedes' principle applied to the gas allowed to develop the first two "flying machines". These are the hot air balloon, invented by the French Montgolfier, and the airship. The first had capital importance because it proved that man could actually take off from the earth, the second one because it represents the beginning of the use of aviation for the transport of passengers. The invention of the balloon, or rather the flight carrying passengers was in 1783, while that of the airship to 1852. It’s worth noticing that there is still half a century before the Wright Brothers flight, which will be discussed later, but the man had already begun hiss conquest of the skies. The balloon is one of the most important step of early aviation, while the airship encouraged air transport. The airships found extremely wide spread in Germany, in fact we all know the model Zeppelin. The Germans took advantage of airships, both civil and military as bombers. However  after the Hindenburg crashed in 1937, their service was suspended.
